About the ESC

The ESC is a not-for-profit organization run by a volunteer executive that meets monthly to coordinate luncheons and seminars for the business sector in Calgary. Guest speakers at the luncheons and seminars provide information relating to economic, oil and gas, electricity, regulatory and other pertinent business issues. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.

It was founded in 1965 to provide regular meetings for discussion and exchange of ideas in the area of economics, to promote public awareness and understanding of current economic issues and problems, to further economic knowledge in the Calgary area in conjunction with institutions of higher learning, and to provide for the social fellowship of individuals with a common interest in the field of economics and business. Our membership usually hovers around 200.

Events

We hold monthly luncheons between September and June of each year. In addition, we host our annual general meeting with a Wine and Cheese reception in June to wrap up the year.

Mentorship

ESC encourages members in supporting the Mentorship opportunities through the University of Calgary's Society of Undergraduates in Economics. For more info click here.
